From Jewish Folk Poetry gives voice to resilience through the luminous, unflinching settings of Dmitri Shostakovich. Rooted in the Russian Jewish experience, these songs speak of hardship — and the strength that endures.
The music does not resolve pain; it carries it, honors it, sings through it. Each piece becomes a gesture of dignity, even in silence. In this installation, a people’s history becomes shared breath — where hardship and hope, memory and motion, live together in one continuous moment.
With Matthew Lynch (artistic director), Adva Tas (soprano), Oda Zoe Hochscheid (mezzo-soprano), Richard Prada (tenor), Mirsa Adami (piano).
