The Physics of Rain

Funny

  how it requires

both sun

           and

            rain

to create

          an arc

              of light

brightness—

  lit by storm,

 bent through water—

a rainbow

            forms only

through

  refraction.

Only then—

a curve

  of color

appears

  just

   as it

disappears.

Strange

    how

its beauty

  is only seen

with your back

  to the light—

               turned towards

      the darkness

   of the mind,

 to the edge

  of a thought

  before

it spirals,

to when finally,

  you stop resisting,

    simply waiting,

  does it begin

 to curve.

What makes

        the invisible

seen —

  if not

        reflection?

Only when bent

  does light

scatter

    into

          color.

If darkness

          is water,

and light

            still

              lives,

     what shape

will your

     turning

take?
