As much as the sky is blue
look how seriously
they weave the wind
one a flower in her hair
the other counting spaces
between her fingers
their weight in my arms
their hands moving
above my head
someone told them
beyond the clouds
the sky is blue
they look up
as if blue was something
the sky had still to prove
look how it pauses
around their faces
pale at the edges
almost white
leaning in
to their laughter.
Where does she go
when I close my eyes?
She asks
I can still see her blue
in the darkness
I close mine
a girl in a bucket
full of summer
snow falling
through her hair
her sister
a ladybug clown
holding a hippo blue
both kneeling
beside an orange cat
conversing words
I cannot hear
their plans
weaving
the wind
wider
they turn
to say hello
their laughter already
creasing the corners
of their eyes
for a moment
time holds
light suspended
between breaths
blue has no edge
their weight
still
in my arms
I smile
